COMM 101 C: Entry #1

Last semester I finally made my decision to become a Communications major. It was pretty tough choice considering it would affect the next 3 years of my life and what kind of class I enroll in. The reason behind the decision was simply the fact that I enjoy people and learning more about everyone. I have never really been a shy person and being able to communicate well and talk in front of large audiences always appealed to me. I enjoy public speaking now and usually able to relate well with others. I do not mind speaking in front of a big classroom and saying how I feel about things.  I think that it is really difficult now days to get where you want without being able to talk and learn from others. I want to learn from mistakes and be able to make great relationships with those who surround me and I feel like a major in communications studies is the best way to achieve that. After earning my communications degree I would like to use it in to start looking for jobs in  social media, especially in sports media. Sports are very important to me and I feel like a good back ground of knowledge of sports as well as a communications degree will be great factors in finding a job in that area of work. Overall, communications is very important to me and being able to do good research and get to know people better are going to be two valuable things that I will learn that will help me succeed for the rest of my life. No matter what area of work I choose a communications major will benefit me and help me get to where I want to be.

  1. Good choice going with a Communication Studies major! Welcome to the group. It truly is an amazing major and I thoroughly enjoyed every single class I have taken. There is such a wide range of options I often have a hard time picking classes because I want to do them all! I commend you for being so comfortable with public speaking. I am a comm major and I still hate formal presentations. I agree, many employers look at your communication skills on a greater scale now. It is a great asset to have. Good luck with the rest of your studies.
